Traveling for me has always meant observing the world with the somewhat dreamy gaze of a child, but also with the concentrated look of those who seek the true meaning of things, the vital breath, free from the bonds of society. In this sense, Iceland was the country that responded most vividly to my gaze, with landscapes that truly stretch as far as the eye can see, the earthy and dusty colors of its surprising nature, the skies that go from uniform gray to purple while you observe them. And silence, a silence where all words find their place, a silence which is absence but contains all the noises of the world. I tried to portray this moment, the “before” of something, or its aftermath, when everything is motionless again. Intense.
Works
For this project I portrayed the earthy grain of Icelandic nature choosing colors that could make the observer feel the cold, the wind, the rain. Furthermore, which is very unusual for me, I let people appear in the pictures: small moving presences showed while walking, or talking to each other, dreamy, suspended figures which make nature, the real subject of this journey, stand out.
